"Virtual Earth or Field Trip to Mars: Integrating Visualization"

John Shaw, Harry C. Dudley Professor of Structural and Economic Geology, Harvard College Professor, and Chair of the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences

Immersive visualization experiences are transforming the landscape of science education, bringing students beyond the classroom to experience remote field sites and other inaccessible environments, from molecular to planetary scales. This session will illustrate how we incorporate these tools in an integrative Earth science learning environment, combined with more traditional modes of learning and interpersonal experiences. The event will be held in Harvard’s 3D Visualization facility, and participants will be exposed to a wide range of presentation, virtual reality, and augmented reality resources available for their courses.
